Hello,
I am experiencing a strange issue with my ESXi node. I am running ESXi 5.1 U2 on a DL680c G7 blade. I have also 2x HP VC Flex-10 modules, that provide Internet, NFS and dual path iSCSI traffic to the blade. I have configured the following connections/networks:
Internet: VCBay1 port4 - VCBay2 port4
NFS: VCbay1 port5 - VCBay2-port5
iSCSI_1: VCbay1 - port2 - VCBay2-port2 (DAC cables)
iSCSI_2: VCbay1 - port3 - VCBay2-port3 (DAC cables)
So I assign to the server profile the above. When I assign ALL of them to the Ethernet connections, my ESXi "sees" the correct number of NICs: 2x 10G for Internet, 1x for NFS and 2x for iSCSI. If i reconfigure the profile and assign ALL to Ethernet connections except of iSCSI, where I configure them as 2x iSCSI HBA Connections, ESXi sees only 1x 10g NIC.
My questions are:
1. Is it correct to assign to Ethernet Networks in VC-Flex10 the ports that are connected to storage systems (dual path 3PAR-10g iSCSI DirectAttach)?
2. Why does ESXi see the correct number of NICs when I configure every Flex10 network as Ethernet Network Connectin?
Thank you for your time.
